The refractometer is an instrument that uses the Brix (%) scale and shows the percentage of soluble solids content of a sample as an aqueous solution.

The refractive index of a liquid containing sugar or other solids is proportional to its concentration.

Hand refractometers are based on this principle. They are in fact built to measure, quickly and easily, the percentage of sugar present in liquids.

The refractometer mod. 101 ATC has Automatic Temperature Compensation (ATC), so you don't need to make any manual corrections.
